This responsibility supports the Pool Manager. Duties for this job assignment will include tasks listed in the “Specific Duties and Responsibilities” section of this job description.
- Attends to the daily operation of aquatic facilities including opening and closing duties and supervises Lifeguards when necessary.
- Responsible for staff supervision, facility operation, and for assigning personnel employee duties.
- Provides excellent customer service by responding to customers' questions and needs.
- Regulates and monitors water chemistry in the pool; maintains chemical inventory; and maintains equipment and supplies.
- Ensures the safety of the facility users by following state and local safety regulations.
- Incumbent must enforce safety guidelines that are consistent with departmental policies.
- Keeps supervisor informed regarding safety related issues.
- Completes various reports and submits them to the Pool Manager.
- Cleans/clears debris from pool based on scheduled developed with Pool Manager.
- Cleans restrooms based on schedule developed with Pool Manager.
- Must work special events as assigned.
- Required to report for work punctually, work all scheduled hours, and any required overtime as deemed necessary by Pool Manager.
- Must maintain physical condition necessary for the proper performance of assigned duties.
- Position includes morning, evening, weekend and holiday hours.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Three to six month previous experience working in an aquatic setting.
- Lifeguard certification
- ARC, Water Safety Instructor, WSI certification – preferred, not required
- Current certification in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED/FPR
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
- Good decision-maker.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide leadership, command the respect of aquatics staff and guests, and be able to delegate duties when needed.
- Must have a current valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
This position is subject to a criminal history background check, and a Motor Vehicle check. Candidates must successfully pass all required background checks in order to qualify for this position.
